Krissy started What the F*t?! Podcast, after dreaming it up for years prior. The podcast is about what it means to be fit, and in her words, “whatever the f*ck that means!” She sits down with fitness professionals, wellness practitioners, entertainers and entrepreneurs to hear what being fit, physically, mentally, and holistically, means to them. The conversations are authentic, light-hearted and always leaves her listeners pondering what “being fit” means to them.
What the F*t?! Podcasts releases weekly episodes, and has since 2018. More recently, Krissy evolved the podcast to include live shows at local bars where listeners have the opportunity for an immersive experience to hear her interview guests and enjoy a cocktail (or two).
When Krissy isn’t behind a microphone, she’s leading teams around the world as a global Talent Acquisition Director for Concentrix Corporation. Since 2015, Krissy has been establishing and executing strategies that identify and convert top recruits in the tech and digital talent pool.
But with her busy lifestyle, Krissy works hard to successfully integrate wellness into her life consistently.
“It’s a constant practice, a reevaluation of what season I’m in and course correcting to best support my needs within that season,” Rubio says. “No matter what current wellness practice I’m implementing, the foundational commitment I’ve made to take care of myself has reinforced my confidence and mental fortitude in every aspect of my life.”
When it comes to physical fitness, Krissy admits this has always come easy(ier) to her. Medicine for Krissy is moving her body, and she can’t remember a time in her life that she wasn’t active.
“I’ve never found it difficult to stick to a workout routine and I am regularly creating my own physical fitness challenges to push myself like entering endurance fitness races or jumping rope for 10 minutes everyday for the month of June or completing at least 15 minutes of yoga everyday for the month of December…which turned into me doing at least 15 minutes of yoga everyday through March because it felt so good!”
While staying active is second nature to Krissy, her mental and emotional wellness are areas where she’s always looking to improve. Previously, she spent years ignoring or pushing away bad feelings in order to avoid feeling them.
“After experiencing the traumatic loss of my younger brother in a motorcycle accident in 2018, starting the podcast that same year and talking to people in the mental wellness field, I now work on recognizing and naming all the different emotions I’m experiencing, feeling them without judgment, and letting them run their course,” Rubio says. “It is a constant practice and I find myself reverting to old avoidance patterns all the time but the work is worth it.”
And finally, to keep Krissy working in tip-top shape, her self-care routine involves regularly shopping at Sloane Boutique, cycling at Society Cycle House and drinking wine from Bar Saeso.
