Pink Moon Goods

Treat yourself to ethically-sourced goods while being good to the planet with this local purveyor.

Going green isn’t just a trend anymore, it’s necessary to helping us live healthier, better lives while also saving the planet. To help you with sustainable, low-waste living at home is Pink Moon Goods, a purveyor of ethically-sourced home goods and other goods that aid in this mission.

Kathleen Hotmer, founder and owner of Pink Moon Goods, says she was inspired launch her business as part of her own mission to reduce waste at home while finding ethical ways to be a consumer. “There is an environmental crisis happening on our planet, and I wanted to help Dayton consumers find a way to reduce waste not only at home but in every area of their lives,” she explains. “Pink Moon Goods provides reusable alternatives to single-use items that are beautiful and practical. I want to help customers find ways to reduce their overall impact on the planet that work for them.”

And while Hotmer is the mastermind behind the business, she says that it’s the makers and creators who keep it all going. She says that she works with over 50 artisans, makers, and manufacturers to source her stock. “Each vendor is vetted for ethical manufacturing practices, low-waste production practices, and fair wage and labor practices,” adds Hotmer.

When you shop Pink Moon Goods, you’ll find items that check off all your boxes when it comes to being sustainable, beautiful, and practicals. You’ll find items like kitchen linens, reusable replacements for single-use items like beeswax wraps, Swedish dishcloths, and reusable wipes, natural material and non-toxic children’s toys, beeswax candles, Weck glass jars, cutlery wraps, and many types of paper goods. “But this is all just the tip of the iceberg,” adds Hotmer.

Not only does Hotmer and Pink Moon Goods sell products that are good for you and the planet, but they also tell a story. “One thing that is important to me when searching for products to sell is to connect with the makers, designers, and artisans to hear their story,” explains Hotmer. “I want my customers to know where the product is coming from, who is responsible for its creation, and what inspired its existence.”

Every item sold by Pink Moon Goods has a story behind it, and all of the artisans are able to share their stories when they connect with Hotmer. “For me, this really makes the experience of shopping at Pink Moon Goods unique compared to shopping through online giant shops or even some smaller shops that source from wholesale markets exclusively,” she says.

As for the future of her shop, Hotmer says that she is looking to find a brick-and-mortar location. “As much as I love popping up all over the city, I am really craving a place to call home,” she says. For now, however, you can find Pink Moon Goods at the Oak and Ivy Family Market, Arcade Market Days, the Jewish Cultural Festival, and the Oakwood Farmer’s Market. She is also hosting at Saturday Studio in Dayton on July 30.
