John Meyer, Co-Owner of Embri Candle Co.: Embri Candle Co. is Cincinnati’s newest premium candle boutique where we hand pour all of our candles right here in Cincinnati. We specialize in boutique, approachable, and everyday fragrances to fill your home with scent.
The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Meyer: Embri Candle Co. was inspired by our Shiba Inu, Embri! Her name fits perfectly to embody our candle brand, and her cute face sometimes makes an appearance in the shop and on our social media.
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind the business?
Meyer: Embri Candle Co. is a sister store to AndSundries in East Walnut Hills. Myself and Nhan Ha opened Embri to expand our range of candles and to create even more home fragrance items, and is an independent playground for scents. We treat Embri like our candle playground, where we get to have fun with new and fresh scents, a completely different experience.
The Chic Guide: What products do you offer in the store?
Meyer: Embri expands on our making tradition: we handcraft all of our candles, pouring, labeling, designing, and packaging each individually. We make a smaller container candle as well as a large room filling, 3-wick candle that burns for 120+ hours. We pour tapers and pillar candles in lots of shapes and sizes, we have wax melts and warmers, and we hand-blend our perfumes and colognes. From our classic series with a more everyday punch to our signature series with a more refined, luxurious feel, we make everything in small batches. Our signature series has a luxurious hand soap and wonderful perfumes to elevate your personal fragrance game.
The Chic Guide: What makes Embri unique?
Meyer: We are completely hands-on throughout the entire process. From designing and printing our own labels to pouring our own candles and creating our own perfumes, we do it all. Everything is handcrafted from start to finish.
The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Meyer: Yes! Our new packaging is enroute from the printer. We will e featuring a 3-pack of our smaller candle to get new customers a great gift pack of our best selling scents. We expect these to arrive soon, so they will be available in time for Mother’s Day.
