Camp + Co

Enjoy a taste of tranquility at this wooded oasis.

When they said opposites attract, they were talking about Kip and Darcy, the longtime married couple based out of Covington who decided to launch the venture of a lifetime after selling the home they lived in for 20 years.

“He’s Kip, I’m Darcy,” she says. “He’s the calm, I’m the tornado. He thinks, I do. We work well together.”

After they sold their home, it was time for something new. That’s when they happened upon the property of their dreams. Unfortunately, they found it just before Covid, which altered their plans for two years. Then, Kip swept Darcy off her feet once more after a day out on a rented Harley with the help of their four children.

“We arrived by home to a night of glamping in my newfound joy,” says Darcy. “And that is how Camp + Co arrived.”

The two are no strangers to entrepreneurship, so launching their own privately owned and operated campground allows them o share their little space with other clampers. “Because our space is private, the only other guests will be critters of the nightlife,” says Darcy. “Eleven acres to yourself, not far from all the happenings, yet still feeling peacefully remote.”

Accommodations at Camp + Co include a canvas bell tent fully styled with queen mattresses and all needed bedding, seating inside and out, a wood fire hot tub, private outdoor vintage fireplace, composting toilet room with a small camp sink for light washing, electric and wi-fi if you want some time away without really disconnected, and the chance to explore the wooded area on the property. Darcy says they’re also planning to add a sauna soon, too. She adds that it’s important to keep in mind that there is no running water on site, so guests are given a cooler with water, a pour over coffee carafe, mugs, and a fan for cooling, plus other amenities.

“We encourage guests to explore within our property boundaries, to enjoy the quiet and beauty, or explore nearby areas,” she adds.

“Camp + Co is easy driving distance to hiking trails, local coffee shops, fun eateries and shops in Covington, Troy, and Sidney, as well as other attractions,” says Darcy.

When you book with Camp + Co, you’ll pay a $75 deposit that is refunded after your departure inspection is complete. The cost is $400 for a two-night stay and $495 for a three-night stay. Darcy says that single night rentals can be booked for $300 per night. The tent and hot tub is included in the campsite fee and includes two adults. For parties with more than two adults, you can look an evening on the property without a stay. For this, Darcy says to inquire.

Camp + Co is located north of Covington, Ohio, on the Miami-Shelby County line. You can book a stay with Camp + Co by sending a message on Instagram or by texting 937-694-4603.
