Simply Sol

Treat your sensitive skin to these hand-crafted, locally-made body products.

Sensitive skin isn’t always easy to deal with. Choosing products that don’t trigger any sort of reaction can sometimes be difficult with the numerous ingredients that are in products of all kinds.

To help combat sensitive skin issues is Simply Sol, a black, woman-owned, all-natural, self-care shop that specializes in soy wax candles and specially-formulated products.

Asia Wheeler, Founder of Simply Sol, says that she suffers from dry, easily irritated skin and eczema her entire life. “I’ve tried product after product to find something that didn’t cause a reaction,” she explains. “In January of last year, I became fed up and researched ingredients specifically for my sensitive skin. Although I started researching just for myself, I figured that I couldn’t be the only one out there with this problem, so I got the idea to start a brand and Simply Sol took off from there.”

Wheeler is the one-woman show behind simply Sol, and says she finds passion seeing her self and other black-owned businesses in the Cincinnati region thrive.

When you shop Simply Sol, you’ll find hand-crafted soy wax candles and soap bars made with all-natural ingredients. “We have a variety of staple scents and some new seasonal surprises,” she adds.

Wheeler says that what makes Simply Sol unique is that she has created a brand one her own, and in a world where there’s a shortage of African American female entrepreneurs, she is proud to be a young, black business owner.

“The best thing about Simply Sol is that when you support it, you don’t support a huge corporation, you support a young woman of color with a dream of helping people become comfortable in their skin, regardless of their disorders and sensitivities,” she says. “You support someone who does a happy dance when an order comes through and one who values any and all feedback so that she can continue to make the greatest products for your skin.”

Simply Sol will soon launch candles in hand-molded concrete jars, and next year Wheeler plans to expand the business to include soap bars, body butters, body balms, sugar scrubs, and more.

You can find Simply Sol on November 27 at Blushed Events on Beechmont Avenue from 9am-2pm.
