SAW Pilates

Try a new exercise option in 2023 and find a sense of community with this Loveland-based pilates studio.

Annette Freisner fell in love with pilates 15 years ago. She wanted to share the joy she found in pilates with others so that they could experience as well so she opened SAW Pilates in Loveland.

“We have a small group of reformer classes and offer private reformer instruction,” says Freisner. “We also have an upstairs studio that has gym equipment where we offer circuit classes.”

When thinking about the name behind what would become SAW Pilates, Freisner says that the word “SAW” has several different meanings.

“SAW is an exercise in pilates used to mobilize the spine, tone the waistline, and stretch the hamstring and hips,” she says. “It also has the initials of my three children – Silas, Abe, and Wren. I wanted to do something meaningful and short and sweet, and it has been the perfect name for our space.”

The studio, located in a historic building, offers private reformer classes, small group reformer glasses with a maximum of 7 people, advanced Pilates Plus classes, reformer circuit classes, and pilates jumpboard classes. The upstairs studio also has circuit and strength classes.

As pilates grows in popularity, Freisner says that what makes her studio stand out from others is its sense of community. “We are small and our sense of community is big,” she says. “Because of our smaller class sizes, we can focus on modifications for those who need it, and you get personalized attention while in a group class.”

There are seven instructors at SAW Pilates, all who bring years of experience with them. Those instructors also focus on helping to build a familial atmosphere, so that newcomers and veterans alike don’t feel forgotten about. “We give personalized attention to you while at class and beyond,” she adds.

SAW Pilates is currently working on expanding the upstairs strength training and cardio circuit classes classed Switch Up classes. “These are fun classes that are upbeat and encouraging,” says Freisner. “We have 8 stations, doing 1-minute intervals that consist of weights, reformer, rowing machine, and treadmill. And, it’s FUN!”

There are 30-second rests between each exercise and a total of three rounds, finishing with core and stretching.

Freisner says they are also launching a personalized pilates plan that will focus more on one-on-one training for the entire person and have an accountability aspect with coaching for overall wellness and fitness, with pilates, strength, cardio classes, and nutrition.

SAW Pilates is located at 111 N. Wall Street in Loveland. The studio is in a dark teal, two-story building with a mural on the side of the building. “We just added the mural this past summer and it’s so pretty,” adds Freisner. “The inspiration for the mural came from my daughter’s hair – it’s crazy, wild, curly, and beautiful. It’s an image of her holding a wren (her name is Wren) and her hair and my boys are represented by a raven and a blue jay. It has lots of pretty colors and nature, and was done by a local artist named Tom Post.”
