Kentucky Botanical Co.’s roots are in organic CBD products, of which the brand is best known for. However, that’s not the only thing you can find when you visit one of its three Kentucky locations. According to the store’s owner Christian Watt, the CBD and sustainable living market is an education-focused distributor of organic, Kentucky grown hemp products.
“Over the years, we have expanded into an all-natural marketplace to take care of our customers from the inside out and beyond,” says Watt. “We want to make small changes that impact our earth and the folks around us in a big way.”
The family behind Kentucky Botanical Co. lives a holistic lifestyle and chooses natural products, quality ingredients, tries plant-based care first, and is environmentally aware. However, when Watt’s mother was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2015 she was in search of natural supplements and dietary changes that could help her through the battle. “This lead me to joining forums and groups about natural healing,” she says. “It was in these groups that I started reading about CBD and the hemp plant, and I was so intrigued.”
Then, when the Federal Farm Bill was passed in 2018, industrial hemp was legalized and Watt wanted to incorporate CBD into her own life and share its impact with those around her. “I knew that this plant was something that we needed to share with our community,” she says. “We wanted to do this in an environment where anyone could come in, ask the questions they needed to ask, and get caring and compassionate advice as they worked to find their own road to natural health.”
From there, Kentucky Botanical Co. was born and has since expanded into sustainability, something Watt says was a natural progression. “We were already taking care of our customers from the inside, now I wanted to be able to start a conversation that would help them work on the outside – whether it be the cleaning products they were using, the beauty products, or other lifestyle products,” she says.
Kentucky Botanical Co. has a full line of CBD care including tinctures, topicals, edibles, herbal teas and other herbal goodies, a full Refill bar with over 25 home and body products, beauty products, bath products, and kitchen products.
The Watts and their team at Kentucky Botanical Co. all work to source quality products for the stores. “All of our hemp-based products are sourced directly from either our partner farm or directly from the growers themselves,” she says. “For the other products in the store, we have strict guidelines for what we will stock and who we buy from. We source from like-minded companies who are small, toxin-free, and working to reduce the environmental impact that they are making as well.”
Kentucky Botanical Co. has three locations: 406 Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue, Kentucky; 31 West Pike Street in Covington, Kentucky; and 266 Main Street in Florence, Kentucky.
