A local consignment shop is helping you look great while saving the planet
Sustainable fashion is so in right now. If you want to wear great items at a great price while still doing your part to save the planet, you may want to consider at visit to Elizabeth DeWitt Upscale Resale at 3427 Erie Ave. in Hyde Park.
The store’s owner, Claire Silbersack, was born and raised in Cincinnati, graduating from Xavier University in 2014 with a degree in communications and has experience in public relations, marketing and entrepreneurship. Following her college graduation, Silbersack started working at Nordstrom and developed a love for fashion and style. Before long, it was a passion she knew she wanted to pursue and she started selling items she found at local resale shops on the app Poshmark.
“This was really the spark that lit the fire and I realized that I wanted to help others find pieces they would cherish for years to come,” says Silbersack.
And so, Elizabeth DeWitt Upscale Resale was born.
Running the shop alongside Silbersack is Jason Spencer, a Connecticut native with Cincinnati connections. Spencer and his wife, Karen, have a knack for procuring rare and in-demand vintage items, so it only made sense to bring Jason onboard to help Silbersack with the consignment shop.
Elizabeth DeWitt Upscale Resale carries a variety of products like women’s, men’s and children’s clothing as well as small home items. Brands in the store are mid- to high-end items from Anthropologie to Prada.
“I like to think of the store as feeling like Soho and a resort shop mixed together,” says Silbersack.
When asked what makes her store unique, Silbersack says that she caters to her customers, even though what they have to offer is secondhand. “I want customers to feel like they’re still having a great shopping experience even though they’re in a secondhand retail store,” she adds. “We work with local artists to create a memorable ambiance that resonates with our clients. Shopping with us is an experience, and we look forward to showing you what we’re all about.”
Not only does Elizabeth DeWitt Upscale Resale sell items, it will also take your previously worn items and add them to their inventory. “If you’re looking to make room in your closet for new pieces, bring your items to us for a fair price and rest assured that your beloved clothing will go to a new home where it can be enjoyed now and in the future,” says Silbersack.
As for the future of the store, Silbersack says that her plans for 2022 are to grow the business and create a larger social media presence. She also plans to work more with local artists and fashion designers to sell their work as well.
