Empower.ology

Meet local women and build your own financial literacy with this newly-launched networking group.

Empowered women empower women. And building up the women around us is the mission at Empower.ology, a women’s networking group that not only builds community but aims to encourage women to prioritize health and happiness personally, professionally, and financially.

Although the organization is relatively new, founders Hannah Myhre-Gaskill and Peggy Collins say they’ve already amassed a community of 200 women that continues to grow every day.

When asked what inspired them to launch Empower.ology, Myhre-Gaskill says that with her and Collins being the only two female financial advisors in their office, they know first-hand how underserved women are in the world of finances.

“And because of that we have noticed that women tend to lack confidence when approaching the topic,” says Myhre-Gaskill. “We wanted to create intentional, interesting, and relevant opportunities that would not only allow women to start having open conversations around money, but would also provide chances for meeting other women in our community and taking time for themselves, two things we know also play into woman’s overall health and wellbeing – which we care about.”

Myhre-Gaskill says that Empower.ology is helping women in the Dayton community in three main ways:

They are partnering with and promoting women-owned businesses. “We believe that when women-owned businesses in Dayton are successful we are all positively impacted,” she says. “We make an effort to showcase at least one female-owned business a week on social media and we partner with them for all of our events.”

Empower.ology also connects and introduces women to other women. “One goal we always have for our events is to connect women who may not have met otherwise,” says Myhre-Gaskill. “We aim to introduce individuals that may have a mutual interest, partnership opportunity, or need. We have already seen this intentional practice benefit multiple women in our new Empower.ology community, which is so exciting.”

Empower.ology is also financially contributing to local non-profits that support women. “We recently hosted a yoga event that raised over $1,800 for Aviatra Accelerators – Dayton, a non-profit that educates, mentors, and provides resources for women entrepreneurs,” says Myhre-Gaskill. “As entrepreneurs ourselves we will continue to host events in the future that give rise to women’s causes we are passionate about.”

And more events are just around the corner. Empower.ology will be hosting a women’s financial panel at Cliffside Acres in Springfield, Ohio, on November 11 at 6:30pm. They are partnering with Jordan Coyne, the owner of Cliffside Acres, and Casey Van Hooris, the owner of Grist, as well as a couple of other surprises they’re finalizing.

“This will be a great opportunity to have your financial questions answered, meet other wonderful women in our community, and enjoy the gorgeous space that Jordan Coyne has so graciously provided for this event,” says Myhre-Gaskill.

Myhre-Gaskill says Empower.ology is always looking for new partnerships and collaborations, so to contact them for more information on how you can work together.

Empower.ology is on Instagram, with plans to launch a website soon.
