Muna Daoud, Co-Owner of Frankie’s Sips & Savories: Frankie’s is a local family-owned restaurant and bar and just named “Top 5 New Restaurant’s for 2022″ by Cincinnati Enquirer. Nestled in between Over-the-Rhine and the Financial District, tucked away in Cincinnati’s historic Piatt Park, Frankie’s Sips & Savories serves up Mediterranean-inspired small plates and craft cocktails. Guests can experience the cozy dining room or outdoor terrace and beautiful alley with views of the park. Inspired by the late, great Frank (Fahid) Daoud, you can enjoy hand-crafted cuisines from all corners of the Mediterranean’s coastline, from Spain to Lebanon and from Jordan to Morocco. We are perfect for a date night, a business gathering or if you just want to feel appreciated and welcomed. Led by Frankie’s family and Chef Pedro Rangel, let’s share the joy and savor the moments together at Frankie’s Place.
The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind Frankie’s?
Daoud: Frank (Fahid) Daoud’s life was one of ambition, courage, determination, and pure grit. He magically filled his life with loyalty, love, never-ending generosity, and an earnest hospitality of the purest and most genuine form. He was and will always be the inspiration for Frankie’s Sips & Savories.
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind the restaurant?
Daoud: Frank’s children and wife are the founders of Frankie’s Sips & Savories. We created the restaurant/bar concept to honor our father’s life and share his love for family, life, travel, great food, and the city of Cincinnati. The children behind the business include myself, Sami Daoud, Samar Daoud, Samir Daoud, and Frankies wife Laila Daoud.
“What a Life” was Frank’s favorite quote, and his grandchildren Nimer, Saba, Taline, Naya, Jenna, and Layla all do their share to honor their grandfather by sharing his teaching of hospitality and working with the founders of Frankie’s.
The Chic Guide: What’s on the menu?
Daoud: All of our chef-inspired menu items are made from scratch and hand-crafted. The menu is inspired by all the regions of the Mediterranean. Unlike most Mediterranean restaurants that are focused on the Middle Eastern part of the region, we serve cuisines from southern France, Spain, and Italy, and also find inspiration from Lebanon, Syria, and North Africa.
The Chic Guide: What makes Frankie’s Sips & Savories unique?
Daoud: Our diverse, homemade menu, craft cocktail offerings, and causal hospitable atmosphere are hard to find anywhere else. We are the greatest hosts on earth and will make you feel like family from the moment you enter Frankie’s. It’s in our DNA, literally.
The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Daoud: At Frankie’s we are always planning new and creative ways to make guests’ experience unique. We currently have Wine Down Wednedays, where we offer 50% off bottles of wine from 4pm to close. We also turn down the lights and turn up the music from 10pm to 2am on Fridays for Frankie’s Latin Fridays. We’re currently looking into live entertainment on Saturdays, beginning mid-March or early April.
