The Chic Guide: What is About A Thing?
Melaney Ballengee, Founder of About A Thing: About A Thing is a woman-owned business focusing on reusable, functional, and sustainable household items that save customers money and cut down on waste.
The Chic Guide: What inspired you to launch your business?
Ballengee: I opened this business because I wanted to create and offer quality products that I’m passionate about and that I believe make the community a better place!
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind About A Thing?
Ballengee: Me, Mellaney Ballengee. I’m the one-woman show behind About A Thing!
The Chic Guide: What products can we find when we shop About A Thing?
Ballengee: So far I’ve offered reusable “paper” towels, reusable facial squares, reusable kitchen scrubbier, and reusable water “balloons,” with many, many more ideas in the near future.
The Chic Guide: What makes About A Thing unique?
Ballengee: We are bringing products that are fun, yet functional to customers in order to help them create their own unique style. Orders can be customized to the interests of each individual. At each pop-up location, customers can dig in and mix-and-match their own bundle of reusable paper towels, with ever-changing patterns and colors to suit all interests and to create uniqueness.
The Chic Guide: Can we find you at any upcoming events?
Ballengee: I’ll be at the Germantown Pretzel Festival September 25-26, the Yellow Springs Pop-Up Behind the Tavern hosted by Wildflower Boutique on October 9, and Fall Into Christmas at the Darke County Fairgrounds on November 6.
The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Ballengee: There are many new products coming out monthly throughout the winter, and I have plans to launch a new website.
The Chic Guide: Where can readers go to learn more and follow along?
Ballengee: I’m on Instagram and Facebook, and you can shop my store on Etsy.
