Valerie had the idea of opening her own clothing store back in January 2021. To her surprise, when she first mentioned her aspirations, her boyfriend Ernesto started making calls and working on the website.
Today Veetique is an online boutique for women, and is owned by Valerie and her boyfriend.
“The name Veetique sprang out of my nickname, Vee, and the word boutique,” she explains. “I didn’t know he would take my idea so literally, but I’m glad he did.”
The couple behind the business are both working toward their own goals at they work the boutique together. Valerie is a full-time student at Sinclair working toward her surgical tech associate’s degree, and Ernesto is active duty for the military for the US Air Force and is a full-time student at American Military University.
Valerie says that while she was drafting logo designs and what kind of clothes she wanted to offer, Ernesto was contacting suppliers in California and New York, and sending her designs to approve.
“We launched the store in March 2021,” she says. “Because college keeps us both very busy, we could only manage three items at a time. We decided too tart by only offering a pair of leggings, a dress, and a swimsuit.”
However, since their launch, they’ve learned a lot about the clothing industry and gained new knowledge from feedback about products and what customers want from the store.
“We have since managed to bring more people onto the team and we’re excited to offer a larger selection this fall,” says Valerie. “We will change our product line on September 22 and offer a variety of leggings, dresses, pants, tops, sweaters, and accessories.”
Valerie is looking forward to the growth of Veetique and says that she wants to capture and represented productive, smart, beautiful, disciplined, and classy women.
