A common mission of improving the lives of others is what brought together an eclectic collective of small, women-owned businesses in the Gem City.
Together, they make up Tend & Flourish, owned and operated by Dayton native Kate Edmondson with the help of her partner, local artist and community connector, Jes McMillan.
When asked what inspired Tend & Flourish, Edmondson says that she wanted to help showcase Dayton as a place of healing and inspired entrepreneurship.
“We provide our tenants a safe, collaborative environment to grow their unique business and empower their desire to help others in their journey,” says Edmondson.
The collective professionals who call Tend & Flourish home include services or skin care, Thai massage, pre- and post-natal massage, Ayurvedic Health coaching, tarot and soul readings, Shamanic Healing, lash extensions, monthly moon circles, and private events.
“By providing our clients with the perfect mix of opportunities to nourish the soul we create a unique atmosphere that fosters relaxation, peace and happiness,” she adds. “We often hear remarks that simply sitting in our gallery or lounge leaves visitors feeling better than when they came in.”
Edmondson says that Tend & Flourish is always bringing in new art and will be resuming their monthly Saturday Soul Sessions, an open house-style event that started back in 2018.
“These events feature studio tours, mini sessions with our practitioners such as massage and soul readings, a new artist in the McMillan Gallery, and entertainment,” she says.
The first Saturday Soul Session is this Saturday, September 4, from 5:30-8pm.
You can find Tend & Flourish at 1906 Brown Street in the university area of Dayton. Currently, they are open by appointment only. You can learn more and inquire about appointments at http://www.tendandflourishdayton.com or on Facebook and Instagram.
