In the world of marketing, things are always changing. Trends come and go, and to help you stay up-to-date and as effective as possible with your marketing, Colin Jeffries and Eric Reed launched Take5: The Rethink Marketing podcast.
“Take5: The Rethink Marketing podcast is a weekly podcast that provides quick-hitting, actionable topics for marketers and business decision makers,” says Jeffries. “Myself and Eric bring in top-level guests to unpack their perspectives and insights on many business topics, including content marketing, product marketing, branding, growth hacking, pubic relations, compensation structures, and many, many more. It’s a must listen for marketers in all phases of their careers.”
The inspiration behind Take5: The Rethink Marketing podcast goes back to when Jeffries and Reed would meet at First Watch at 7am every few months and talk through the marketing topics of the day and how they could build value, increase conversions, and tactics for hiring the right people.
“After many such meetings, Eric brought up the idea of turning these conversations into podcast form so that other people could benefit, too,” says Jeffries. “Given that we both bend toward action, a short while later, The Rethink Marketing podcast was born.”
Both Reed and Jeffries bring different components from the marketing world to their dynamic duo, which is what helps it work so well together.
Reed is the Founder and Managing Partner of Reed5Group, and has a background in sales leadership, creating marketing plans, designing culture, managing media, and events, and has a well-rounded understanding of many of marketing’s complexities.
Meanwhile, Jeffries is the Director of Marketing and Communications at BrightView, and has spend most of his career working directly with clients to help them build out and managing their marketing departments. His experiences are in content marketing, digital advertising, strategic growth plans, segmentation, and in helping businesses start to actually market.
“Given our differing experiences and perspectives, we’re able to provide tips and tricks we’ve learned along our careers with the conversation blending in a unique and interesting way—it’s not just two guys at the same company trying to push a product like so many marketing podcasts,” says Jeffries.
Topics covered on the Think5: The Rethink Marketing podcast include anything and everything related to marketing and business success like public relations, earned media, growth hacking, conversation rate optimization, psychology, segmentation, search engine optimization, digital advertising, social media marketing, audience building, branding, and so much more.
And because the two know that listeners have busy lifestyles, these topics are covered in 15 minutes or less, and they are able to to get insights from expert guests in 45 minutes or less.
“Listeners can invest minimal time for maximum results from global thought-leaders and two hosts who are in the trenches, fighting the good fight of marketing day in and day out,” adds Jeffries.
Season 1 on the podcast just finished and Season 2, Jeffries says, is covering topics like sonic branding, thermodynamic marketing, reinventing how we think about ROAS, and some fantastic guest that they can’t share just yet.
“The Rethink Marketing podcast just surpassed 10,000 downloads and 75 episodes in its first year, and thanks to the amazing audience, world class guests, and fantastic sponsors, all indicators point to year two being even better,” he says.
The podcast partners with the Farmer School of Business at Miami University and Arrasmith Promotions to keep all of the content on the Think5: The Rethink Marketing podcast free and universally accessible.
