Bryn Cuzick took a trip to Malibu several years ago. That’s when she was introduced to the craft of hat making. And from there, the inspiration never stopped flowing. Today, Cuzick is the founder and owner of Taj Hat Co., an artisan hat shop and studio that invites individuals to elevate their personal style and invest in their own authenticity.
The trip that started it all allowed Cuzick to get a look at the marriage of the craft of hat-making and the timeless styles that create individuality among their wearers. Now, she’s a one-woman team based out of Northern Kentucky and is creating her own pieces that she hopes to inspire others with. “My love for hats goes all the way back to my adolescence, and I’m passionate about inspiring confidence and cultivating all things beautiful,” she says.
There is a limited selection of artisan hats and hat accessories in the Taj Hat Co.’s online shop. She also offers custom hats, which invite customers into the design process. Additionally, she hosts a limited number of hat-making workshops, which are announced on her Instagram page.
While the hats created by Taj Hat Co. are pieces you won’t find anywhere else, Cuzick says that what makes her business truly unique are its customers. “We serve style-minded individuals who aren’t afraid to stand out in a room and express their own authenticity, which means no hat is the same and each one is crafted with care and intention,” she says.
As she continues to grow her brand, Cuzick says that as a northern California to Cincinnati transplant, she really enjoyed the creative and eclectic community in the Queen City. “It’s such a joy to be a part of this local community of thriving and supportive small business owners,” she adds.
Currently, Taj Hat Co.’s website is undergoing a revitalization as part of a bigger effort to serve the non-local hat community. She’s also planning to announce new workshop dates in the weeks to come.
