Sweet P’s Handcrafted Ice Pops

Take the bite out of the summer heat with these locally made ice pops.

Sweet summertime is here and there’s no better way to cool off than with an ice pop. To help you beat the heat is Sweet P’s Handcrafted Ice Pops, a Dayton-based ice pop company offering several different flavors.

“We are a family-owned and operated business that, like many, cares about what we eat and feed our family,” explains Danielle Edwards, the Director of Planning and Finance at Sweet P’s. “We love making delicious ice pops with fresh, whole, and organic ingredients.”

Edwards runs the business alongside mom and Director of Sales and Communication Madonna Marable; son, brother, and Director of Operations Ray Howard; and brother, son, and Director of Production Michael Smith.

The inspiration behind Sweet P’s comes from Mexican Paletas. “If you have ever been to Mexico or Southern California, you may ind a person with a cart selling the most delicious ice pop or plata made with real, natural ingredients such as different tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, or bananas,” explains Edwards. “You may even find a cream-based palette. No matter the flavor, they’re unique and delicious.”

The goal at Sweet P’s is to recreate the palettes experience locally with fresh, whole, and organic ingredients all locally sourced.

There are many flavors of ice pops available from Sweet P’s, and a variety of pops including dairy-based, fruit-based, no sugar added, and poptails (your favorite cocktails turned into ice pops).

The ice pops from Sweet P’s are unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere in the city. “Each popsicle is handcrafted and made fresh every week,” says Edwards. “We create flavors that you can’t find in stores like Horchata, Avocado, Blueberry Lavender, Raspberry Hibiscus, and many, many more.”

The family behind the business says they’re looking forward to the continued growth of Sweet P’s, and they’re planning to open a new retail location in August. For now, you can find Sweet P’s at several places around the city including Second Street Market, the Oakwood Farmers Market, and in the Oregon District.
