Jacqueline Lott went all in when she opened Sunrise Bakehouse, a cottage food bakery, after she turned the lower portion of her home into a dedicated, full-size baking space.
Lott says she was inspired to open her own bake house after she saw a need for scratch-made, high-quality baked goods in the Dayton area, especially as we were in the depths of the pandemic.
Before opening Sunrise Bakehouse, Lott spent 8 years as a pastry chef and baker for restaurants and county clubs in Miami and Montgomery counties and surrounding areas, as well as catering offerings to residential clientele. Her husband also has an extensive background in food service and helps her out when he isn’t working his full-time job.
There is a wide variety of made-from-scratch bakery items available from Sunrise Bakehouse including: sourdough; flatbreads; focaccia; pretzels; bagels; wheat; Challah; rye; baguette; and more.
“We also offer plenty of sweats including doughnuts, cannoli, brownies, cookies, pies, cinnamon rolls, pastries, and custom orders such as tarts and cakes,” says Lott.
Some of the most popular items from Sunrise Bakehouse are included in their Subscription Boxes, which are available as one-time, monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly deliveries. “These boxes include a variety of baked goods from savory to sweet and always include either a made-in-house jam or sauce or a locally made jelly, jam, or butter to enjoy with your fresh baked goods,” she adds.
Lott says that what makes Sunrise Bakehouse unique is their ability to customize orders to ensure that customers are getting what they want.
“We bake our orders the day they are scheduled for delivery or pick-up so they are as fresh as possible every time,” she says. “Our extensive background in food service and catering, as well as our passion for baking and hard work, makes us stand out above the rest. We are a small, family-run bakery and truly take joy in putting the effort forth to make each order exceptional, whether for a special occasion or regular subscription box deliveries.”

They also make deliveries to local establishments at Haren’s Market in downtown Troy.
“Haren’s Market has a fantastic variety any possible grocery need you may have from fresh cut meat to wine, dairy products, local produce, sauces, snacks, and, of course, a wide variety of our freshly baked goods,” adds Lott.
