StretchLab Centerville

Improve your wellness with a new stretching center in Centerville.

One of the most important ways to prevent injury in exercise is by stretching. Stretching also helps with a plethora of other things besides preventing injury and StretchLab Centerville is helping clients stay safe.

Janna Proctor, Studio Owner of Stretch Lab Centerville, says that StretchLab Centerville is a one-on-one assisted stretching wellness studio.

“Clients work 1:1 with a trained Flexologist to develop a customized stretching program,” she explains. “Not bodies are the same and no two stretches at StretchLab are the same. One-on-one stretching is about identifying tightness and imbalances in your body and customizing a stretch routine that is just for you.”

Oftentimes clients find themselves at StretchLab Centerville already experiencing pain, tightness, or ready to target a specific area on their body. However, they don’t often leave once those issues have been resolved. “They keep coming back and commit to their flexibility journey once they experience the freedom that comes with having a wider range of motion and flexibility,” adds Proctor.

Proctor says that the inspiration behind StretchLab goes back to helping clients remember how important stretching and recovery is in a wellness program. “A consistent, individualized stretching program can lead to increased range of motion, decreased aches, pains, and recovery time, greater mobility, injury prevention, sport performance enhancement, and, depending on your life stage, increased balance,” she adds.

Flexologists at StretchLab are vetted and required to hold a national recognized certification or state licensure with at least one year of experience in body work. They are also required to participate in StretchLab’s Flexologist Training Program, an intensive and thorough series that must be done before flexologists are permitted to officially join StretchLab. This program requires between 60 and70 hours of theory and hands-on training, allowing for candidates to expand their knowledge on the muscular system, learn a variety of assisted stretches, and how to work with a variety of clients of all ages and body types.

There are a number of services available at StretchLab Centerville. One-on-one assisted stretching services use a variety of stretching techniques using the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation method.

“Basically, your Flexologist will put you in a position and ask you to contract certain muscles and hold the contraction for a few moments,” says Proctor. “This advanced form of stretching is very beneficial in increasing range of motion and getting maximum benefits. Another method used is Dynamic and Static stretching. Static stretching is holding a stretch for a set amount of time. Dynamic stretching includes some sort of movement associated with the stretch .We use a combination of these methods during every session.”

Proctor says that the team at StretchLab is a group of lifelong learned. “By continuously learning and making adjustments based on current science and research, we strive to improve and provide the best client experience while delivering a safe and effective stretch that will meet the needs of our clients,” she adds.

All clients at StretchLab receive a monthly mobility assessment using their MAPS technology. “MAPS is a revolution 3D body scanning tool that provides us with information on how well your body is moving,” explains Proctor. “Your Flexologist will guide you through the scan, help you interpret the results, and use the data to customize your stretch.”

StretchLab recently launched a new benefit for clients called StretchLab GO. “GO is an online platform for stretching beyond the studio,” says Proctor. “Our Flexologists will assign various videos for clients to complete between their weekly stretches to either maintain or enhance their programming.”

StretchLab also offers audio content for various workout formats and an 8-week wellness program that includes nutrition, stretching, recovery, exercise, meditation, and more.
