Rye Camp

Grab your family and friends for a getaway at this beautifully secluded glamp-ground.

Ready for a glamping getaway without going hours out of town? Rye Camp is the place for you. Rye Camp is an 8-acre public campground southwest of downtown Dayton. Lena White, who owns Rye Camp alongside her partner Jason Archdeacon, says Rye Camp is a convenient getaway for the right price, especially during these expensive times.

At Rye Camp you’ll find that they offer glamping, bring-your-own-tent camping, hiking, and tons of adventure. The spot came to be what it is today after White was searching for a place that she and her family could slow down. “Post-COVId, things were speeding up again,” she explains. “My calendar was full again, just as it was before the world slowed down. It’s important to me that my three young boys grow up with a place to slow down, where we can be with uninterrupted mother nature, and that has a convenient location so I don’t have to drive 4 hours to Hocking Hills. I stumbled on this listing and the rest is history.”

Since acquiring the property, White and Archdeacon have given their all toward building Rye Camp. She says they’ve worked to clear land for trails and build campsites, all of which you can see when you stay with them.

At Rye Camp you’ll find fully furnished canvas tents in a private setting, fire pits, and picnic tables at each campsite. There’s also a large community fire pit near the front of the camp for large parties and gatherings. If you take pride in pitching a tent and really going all out in your camping experience, Rye Camp also offers a bring-your-own-tent option, which also comes with a firepit area.

“We have three drinking and hand-washing stations throughout the camp,” she says. “There is a sawdust outhouse. Lots of games to play and two cornhole boards. We also offer add-ons like firewood bundles, ready-to-heat breakfast burritos made with our recipe, s’mores packs, hot pizza delivery, morning donut delivery, and merchandise.”

According to White, Rye camp is the first of its kind in the Dayton area. In its uniqueness, Rye Camp offers a vacation or getaway for couples, families, and friends for less than that of a getaway further from the city or in a hotel. “Rye Camp is a glamping campground that is beautiful, secluded, and full of adventures to be had by all ages,” she says. “Inflation can be limiting for many families. Rye Camp offers a getaway for a fraction of the price of Hocking Hills or a hotel, but equal fun and possibly new adventures.”

As White and Archdeacon continue to navigate the growth of Rye Camp, she says they are excited about what’s to come. They are hoping to build one or two modern A-frames as well as a bathroom/shower facility next year. And since there is a large portion of Rye Camp that has yet to be cleared or developed, they will continue on with their plans to do that.

Rye Camp is located in Jefferson Township at 3157 S. Union Road in Dayton. To learn more, visit www.ryecamp.com or follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
