When you find your passion, you have to follow it. For some, knowing what we want to do comes early in life. For others, we find what we truly care about a little bit later. For Patricia Anderson, she fond her passion for massage later in life but at just the right time.
“I have worked many jobs in many fields, and massage is by far the one that feels right,” says Anderson. “I’ve always loved to learn and help people, and that’s what being a dedicated massage therapist is all about.”
Following her graduation from the Cincinnati School of Medical Massage in 2020, Anderson launched ProEdge Sports Massage Therapy, which has recently rebranded from the name PRO.formance Advant.EDGE.
“We are a local Kentucky and Cincinnati based massage therapy practice,” she explains. “We treat a wide variety of clients fro professional athletes, hard woking mommas, weekend warriors, and clients with Parkinson’s and other neuromuscular conditions.”
The inspiration to open her practice arose following a week-long internship in Texas. “After the internship midway through massage school, I knew a sports-based company is the direction I waned to head,” she explains. While in Texas, Anderson worked in a gym setting and felt comfortable and excited about the opportunity.
“Talking to all of the athletes preparing for the Combine and their pro days, I felt so much inspiration and admiration for them,” she says. “I knew if I had that feeling everyday doing what I do I’d be happy to do it.”
Although Anderson went into it with thoughts of helping athletes, her interests in helping others grew alongside the business. “I realized how much I could help people, not just athletes,” she says.
At ProEdge, you’ll find that services offered include therapeutic massage and deep tissue massage as well as a mat-based stretching service called SportStretch. Anderson says that she plans to offer additional services in the spring.
Anderson says that what makes her practice unique is that she truly cares about all of her clients. “If I don’t have an answer to a question or a solution to a problem, I will hunt until I do,” she says. “I believe in progress, not perfection and I am realistic on the time it takes to make a problem better.”
She strives to ensure that clients are comfortable during their visits and the days that follow while also giving them a space to relax and decompress.
Anderson says she’s looking forward to 2022 with her clients. She says she will be taking classes early this spring to improve her skills and bring the best services to her clients.
ProEdge is located in Covington, Kentucky, inside Madison Place on the river. She also has a second practice in St. Bernard, Ohio, inside Alpha Neuro Fitness.
