Niche

Build a timeless wardrobe with this brand focused on creating a sense of community for its customers.

Mackenzie See is on a mission when it comes to shaping a timeless wardrobe at an affordable price. She is the founder of Niche, a safe place to pick and choose what pieces of clothing fulfill your wardrobe dreams.

See says that at Niche, the goal is to help customers find peace and comfort in choosing items that make them feel the most beautiful in their own skin. “At Niche, you can have the freedom of choosing from each carefully picked piece of clothing to add to your personalized wardrobe,” she says. “The dream is that each piece of clothing can be pairs and mixed-and-matched with other pieces of clothing to start, build, or complete a look.”

The inspiration behind starting such a business came from See’s passion for clothing that transcends time and never goes out of style (at least from season to season). “I know how hard our society pushes the idea that we are not enough as we are, and I wanted to create a place that defied that and lets women know they can come as they are, however they feel most authentic, confident, and comfortable,” she says. “Niche is here, and I am here to support them.”

When you shop Niche, you’ll find tops, pants, and dresses, plus a lot of love and support from See, who is the one-woman show behind the business but also runs on the support of her boyfriend, friends, and family.

See says that what makes her business unique is that she puts forth immense effort in providing customers with a sense of safety, community, and belongingness through her brand. “It’s about way more than just clothing for me,” she says. “I try hard to show that my brand represents hope, the future, love, being yourself, self-acceptance, and so much more.”

While the initial intention of starting her business was based on creating a community rather than focusing on clothing, See has built a memorable brand based on inclusion and encouragement to come as you are and unapologetically.

“‘Niche’ is actually based on the word ‘unique,'” she says. “I wanted it to be short and to the point. We wanted it create something that is unique from ‘traditional’ clothing brands and stores, and encourage others to break away from the norm.”

Although See enjoys the clothing she discovers by running her store, she says that the most enjoyable part of it all is the people she gets to meet along the way. “The thing I’ve enjoyed the most since launching Niche has been the incredible women I’ve met over the last two years and getting to help them build a wardrobe that they feel most confident, themselves, and beautiful in,” she says. “Sure, the clothes are amazing and helping women build a wardrobe is my passion, but I wouldn’t be here without the incredible women who choose to support Niche and my mission.”

See is looking forward to continuing to build Niche throughout the year. “I plan on prioritizing spreading love, authenticity, reassurance, and support through Niche’s channels, creating a safe space for people to come where they can feel accepted and supported and where they can come for a good laugh – I don’t take things too seriously around here,” she says.

You can catch Niche and See in person at the City Flea in May and The O.F.F. Market in July, August, and September.
