DeLong is the one-woman show behind Monarch Macarons, serving as the head baker, admin, marketer, delivery driver, and everything in between. “While there are many parts to running a small business, the baking is definitely my favorite and the reason I started Monarch Macarons.”
DeLong’s journey in life took her to Europe, where she lived for a few years and became obsessed with macarons. Upon her return to the U.S., she says she spent several months learning how to bake them while trying different recipes and flavor combinations. “As more and more friends requested them for parties and events, I decided to dive in,” she says. “I started Monarch Macarons in spring 2021 and I’ve been baking away ever since.”
When you order macarons from Monarch Macarons, you’ll find an endless number of options for flavors and fillings. “If you’re unfamiliar, macarons are traditional French sandwich cookies made from mainly egg whites and almond flour, making them naturally gluten free,” she explains. “The sandwich cookies are then filled wit ha variety of delicious fillings, such as buttercream, chocolate ganache, jams, or curds. Because of this, the flavor combinations are endless, and the shells can be made any color to match an event, brand, holiday, or flavor.”
When creating monthly boxes, DeLong says that there are assorted dozen boxes available. The beginning of each month means the announcement of special flavors and the opening of pre-orders. Pre-orders stay open for a week or until they sell out, with free local delivery or pick-up options for a date later in the month. “Then, I bake bake bake, fill, and package the macarons, tell them they’re beautiful, and send them on their way – fresh to your door,” she says.

In addition to the monthly boxes, Monarch Macarons offers a 3-month subscription service, where you’ll receive three months of dozen boxes at a 10% discount.
When it comes to what makes Monarch Macarons unique, DeLong says it’s flavors and care for the product. “With macarons now becoming fairly ubiquitous, you’ll find them in the freezer section at many grocery stores, but I’ve heard numerous times, ‘I didn’t think I liked macarons until I tried yours!’ That’s my favorite customer comment because it emphasizes the research and time I put into developing my recipes, taste testing, and ensuring overall quality.”
Monarch Macarons will continue serving its customers and hopes to bring new flavors, new vendors, and vegan options in the future.
DeLong says that she creates custom orders with unique flavors and colors to match any special event, and her macarons can be found at Hungry Toad Farm in their shop and at all four Blossom Juicy Bar locations.
