The pandemic gave many of us opportunities to take a deeper look at what we were doing with our lives. Some picked up new hobbies, others, like Emily Zook, chose to open their own businesses.
“Being given the time off to sit with my thoughts and really reflect on my ‘almost’ decade in the industry really pushed me to go out of my comfort zone,” says Zook.
Today she is the owner of Lunar Beauty Bar, a skincare studio in the heart of Over-the-Rhine.
“Being immersed in this tight-knit community was my No. 1 goal while choosing a storefront,” she says. “Lunar is a place that is inviting from the moment you walk up to the door and step inside. It is a safe space for everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin, because inside you will receive quality facials and personalized advice about how to take care of yourself at home.”
Lunar Beauty Bar’s name was inspired by Zook’s love of the moon, astrology, and rituals that keep her calm. She has 9 years of experience in touching people’s face and souls.
“I genuinely care about each and every one of my clients,” she says. “I make sure they have a lasting experience and impression from laying down on the bed to seeing their skin in the mirror at home. My goal is to make clients want to comeback before they even leave. I am your Cincy Skin Specialist.”
At Lunar Beauty Bar you’ll find a variety of facials that can be customized to meet your specific skin care needs in an intimate, one-on-one setting to make your experience safe and comfortable.
“My clients know that no matter how long you have been seeing me, we will always talk about your current skin concerns and what your are happy with,” she explains. “This is because I care so much about making sure we are targeting exactly what you need that day.”
“The customized will play a big role in the end result, so you will not find cookie cutter services on the menu,” says Zook. “Some of the more popular add-ons include derma planing to remove the first layer of dead skin along with peach fuzz. Celluma LED light therapy to treat acne, dark spots, and diminish the appearance of wrinkles. Different levels of chemical peels are being offered along with nano infusion, which is near painless. It helps penetrate serums deeper to provide hydration and reverse the signs of aging by stimulating the production of collagen. We will also provide waxing services and customized spray tans.”
Zook focuses on providing her clients with personalized, high-quality, and results-driven facials. “That feeling of being pressured to buy products from my shelf will never come up,” she says. “Oftentimes I have clients talk to me about what they already use in their routine at home and we start from there. If a spray tan is something on your radar, I can assure you we will go over pre- and post-tan care because both are very important in prolonging the results. I want everyone to feel empowered in their own skin, being filter-free, and making them ‘glow like the moon,'” she says.
Zook says that she’s planning to offer new services, including brow lamination and a new product line called Face Reality.
