The supply chain may be creating shortages for big box stores, but local shops are ready to serve their customers this holiday season. Local Studio 325 out of Latonia, Kentucky, offers a wide variety products and workshops from local artists and crafters.
“We’re all about local here at Local Studio 325,” says Owner Chris Kidwell. “Our retail boutique captures the spirit of northern Kentucky, highlighting several local businesses, artists, and landmarks.”
The studio space at Local Studio 325 also hosts workshops and events for adults and children. “We host several art exhibits, book signings, meetings, and private small events here,” says Kidwell.”
Local Studio 325 is also partners of the Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Council, and host several Girl Scout badge workshops and a site for Girl Scout cookie sales.
Kidwell says the idea that became Local Studio 325 started when she was looking for a way to showcasing and highlight the local maker community.
“A few years ago, finding Latonia t-shirts or mugs wasn’t something you could do, we wanted to change that,” she explains. “More than selling souvenirs we wanted to help change the business district and community as whole.”
Kidwell is on a mission to highlight everything local in Latonia. “From our local art, books, food, clothing, and amazing hand-crafted products, we search to find and/or create the best our region has to offer,” she adds. “We’re always searching for small ays we can help be supportive of Covington and the growth of its Latonia neighborhood.”
When you visit Local Studio 325 you’ll find a little bit of everything. “We have everything from NKY Tees to hand-knitted scarves to custom travel tumblers and dozens of other products and local brands like Grainwell, Mack’s Wax Melts, and Errant Viridia,” says Kidwell. “We make personalized items, too, including shirts, mugs, doozies, totes, and so much more.”
Kidwell says that she and her team put love and careful thought into all that they do. “We aren’t just here for the community, we are part of the community,” she says. “It’s more than sales or our little store. We proudly give back when we can, from creating and hosting The Sisterhood Society fundraising events to creating the Latonia Community Libraries and hosting outdoor markets – it’s all about local. We truly believe local is where the heart is.”
Kidwell says there’s lots of new things on the horizon for Local Studio 325, including being the new home base for NKY Tees and marks arts and craft workshops, book signings, and art exhibits in 2022.
