Jasmine Smith started her journey in the beauty industry as a lash tech in college. It was something she wanted to do as a hobby, but also something she quickly learned she was deeply passionate about.

“I was studying architecture at the time and became known as The Lash Architect because the skill is so specialized and detail-oriented,” she explains. “Over time, as I expanded, I took on the name Lash Architecture, which stands for the tools and services utilized to build upon one’s natural beauty.”

In choosing the name “Lash Architecture,” she says that she’s able to pay tribute to her background and passion before entering the industry, but is also able to highlight the in-depth technical skills that go into servicing clients.

Now, her luxury eyelash extension studio in Newport, Kentucky, provides a variety of services including classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume lash extensions. She’s also working on developing her own line of products for lash artists. “I specialize in mega volume lash extensions as well as lash rescues, or fixing lashes that have been damaged or improperly applied,” she adds.

Smith says that in opening her own luxury lash extension studio, she wanted to fill a void as a woman of color in an industry that lacks representation – both in the beauty world and in the architecture and design field. “Lash Architecture is my attempt to make people feel like the best version of themselves, while still showing others like myself that it is possible to develop a growing business that offers so much more than just providing a service,” she adds.

She is also planning for the future of her business. Smith says she is currently in the process of becoming a Lash Educator, which allows her to professional train new artists in the industry while sharing her own unique experiences developing Lash Architecture as a business and brand. And while she continues to provide lash extension services to clients in the area, she’s also pursuing a Master’s Degree in architecture at the same time.
