A local hairstylist does more than hair in her Troy salon

Shannon Clark does more than hair—she’s turned her passion for doing work behind the chair into a career that allows her to change the lives of others. Clark has been a stylist since 2002 and took her biggest leap of faith yet when she opened Color Vibe Salon in March 2020 at 6 N. Madison St. in Troy.

“I have been servicing the Miami County and surrounding areas for many years by embracing women [and helping them to] not only see their inner beauty, but outer beauty as well by creating natural, low-maintenance services within their hair goals,” she says.

“I knew I had to start my own business, even though I didn’t have a clue how and was full of fear and self-doubt, especially since this was at the beginning of the pandemic,” says Clark. “I still took that leap of faith anyway. Fast-forward to now, and the salon has two other independent artists running their own business as well as my assistant Hannah, who is training under me.”

Clark says that she not only does hair, cuts, colors, styles and more, but she also connects, consoles and listens. “I am a shoulder to lean on, plus a person to look toward for a confidence boost,” she says. “Especially when you are feeling down or walking down a dark path, I’m more than just a hair stylist. I don’t just do hair. I have built many relationships with clients far deeper than just trimming the ends or covering the gray.”
