Hammer & Stain Sidney

Bring out your inner artist at this DIY studio in Sidney.

Amanda Davidson and Allison Davis are bringing a DIY studio experience to Sidney. The duo opened up their space, Hammer & Stain, in the heart of downtown Sidney, giving guests the opportunity to transform unfinished wood into personalized works of art.

“Our instructor-guided glasses make it fun and easy to create a piece you will love,” says Davidson. “All you have to do is bring yourself and your friends.”

The first Hammer & Stain opened in Florida in 2016 and has expanded throughout the country over the last 5 years. Davidson and Davis are able to have the brand without the franchise tag, giving them opportunities to collaborate with other Hammer & Stain owners while also working with other local businesses in Sidney to give things their own creative twist.

Hammer & Stain Sidney opened this past summer and offers not only wood workshops but other mediums such as pottery, ceramics, pillows, charcuterie workshops, and more.

“We opened Hammer & Stain because we saw a need in the community,” says Davidson. “Sidney needed some kind of creative outlet for people to go and have fun and create with their friends and family. We found Hammer & Stain online and once we had the initial phone call, we knew it was something we definitely wanted to bring to the area.”

In addition to their workshops with family and friends, Hammer & Stain also offers corporate events, fundraisers, team building, date nights, girls night out, bridal events, bachelorette parties, birthday parties for adults and children, and more.

Davidson and Davis pride themselves on Hammer & Stain being the only DIY workshop in the area surrounding Sidney. They’re also proud that they aren’t tied down to one method of doing things and they’re able to offer other mediums besides wood as well as collaborative workshops.

“With this business model we are able to take our own ideas and creativity and incorporate that into this business,” she says. “We have had such a great response from the community.”

When you paint at Hammer & Stain you can rest assured that no matter your ability, you’re never alone. “We are a do-it-yourself business, but really, we do it together,” says Davidson. “We never leave you alone to figure things out. We instruct your and let you create your project as you want to. We don’t pressure you into doing it how we might do it, because it’s your project that you’re going to love for years to come.”

Davidson says that what they love the most about Hammer & Stain is seeing the happiness on faces when the stencil comes off the board and guests see the work they’ve created. “We love to see how each and every person creates something completely different from the next,” she says. “We have some really creative guests.”

Hammer & Stain is currently planning upcoming workshops for spring. They also host open paint hours to give you the chance to come in and create a piece of your choosing. Davidson says to keep up on their website and social media pages for workshop announcements.
