Molly Davis of Quidwell has some tips for those looking to live better this year

Raise your hand if you didn’t live your healthiest life in 2020. Many of us spent the last year working from home, binge-watching The Queen’s Gambit and comfort eating.

But there is no better time to start working on a healthier you then the start of a New Year! And no one knows this better than Molly Davis and Meriden McGraw, co-founders of Quidwell, which connects Tristate women to local health and wellness companies and resources. We spoke with Davis to get some tips for being healthier in 2021.

How Do I Start?

Simple is best. You may be tempted to implement some big changes but starting small may be more realistic.

“Start by establishing attainable, realistic habits. It can be as simple as drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning, going for a walk once a week before you start your workday, or setting a notification in the middle of your day to pause for a minute and just breathe,” says Davis.

Where Do I Go?

While Cincinnati is home to many great health resources, Davis has some recommendations:

  • Fitopia is a fitness gym in West Chester that uses EMS, or Electrical Muscle Stimulation, to help you have the most efficient workout possible. Davis says that a 20-minute workout there is as effective as a 90-minute cardio and weightlifting session.
  • Form+Function Movement Lab in Blue Ash and Columbia Tusculum is a chiropractic and movement practice that does more than treat patients. “They aim to solve movement problems, improve athletic performance and educate clients to own their movement practice and ultimately live life to its fullest,” says Davis.
AKT in Mason
  • AKT in Mason is a dance-based cardio studio that provides what Davis calls the most fun workout in the city.
  • Spa Melissa Allen on Red Bank Road is ideal for those wanting to improve their skin, says Davis. “They utilize DMK Skincare both in-office and as home care to achieve homeostasis in the skin to create a more youthful appearance,” she says.

How Do I Stay on Track?

Incorporating these changes into your daily life can be tough. Davis has two tips for making this process easier.

One, have someone do it with you. “Whether it’s your spouse, sister, friend or a coach, having someone else there to hold you to your healthy habits will be instrumental in your success,” she says.

Two, plan ahead. “Start small, make your habits attainable and measurable, create a plan, and write them down! Small changes over time yield big results,” Davis says.
