Flohemian Floral Design

Read about this free-spirited floral designer creating bouquets of blooms that'll take your breath away.

If you ask Sarina Bigney, she’ll tell you she’s a free-spirit who finds inspiration from her grandma and the healing power that flowers have provided her. She is also the founded of Flohemian Floral Design, and incorporates her personality and passion for all things flowers into her business as she creates one-of-a-a-kind pieces of art.

“Whether it’s for your home or a special day like a wedding, I am truly passionate about creating with my hands and using florals as my medium,” she says.

Bigney found that flowers provided her with a sense of healing, and when she knew she wanted to start her own floral design business, she looked to her grandma and her grandma’s beautiful gardens that she always enjoyed seeing. And to help make her grandma a more permanent source of inspiration in the business, she even uses her grandmother’s handwriting in the “Flohemian” in her logo.

Bigney has a studio in her home that she is able to work out of. “So, while you don’t have the typical in-person shopping experience with me, I still strive to give my clients plenty of communication and conversation during the ordering process, as if you were in a shop chatting with me,” she says.

Through Flohemial Floral Design, Bigney offers full-service and a la carte wedding services, seasonal flower subscriptions, delivery, custom dried floral arrangements and installations, and seasonal items.

When it comes to her designs, Bigneys ays that it’s her free-spirited and intuitive style that helps her stand out among other floral designers. “I strive to source locally grown flowers (when in season) and I select my flowers with intention, primarily opting for specialty blooms that are unique,” she says. “I take my time and let the flower speak to me with each and every creation. Since I am a one-woman show, you can be assured that I am the one creating each piece and no two pieces are alike.”

Bigney says that with fall just around the corner, and a new season of fresh flowers, she’s looking for new ways to design dried florals. She’s also hoping to streamline her flower subscription services at the end of the year so that she can offer additional spots for others to join as well as multiple price offerings.
