For many of us, sporting our favorite pj bottoms during Zoom calls was fun for a while, but now we’re yearning to renew some type of normalcy when it comes to our wardrobe this year. And to get us back on track (and out of our track suits), Carrie Hagee, founder and owner of Storyteller Stylist, is here to guide us into 2021’s up-and-coming fashion trends.
Belted Trench Coat:
This style of coat has been around for a long time. However, it is re-emerging with an emphasis on the belt feature and will be popular in various fabrics, including faux leather.
Floral Print
While always around, this year’s floral prints will be brighter, bolder and in all sectors of fashion. You’ll find vivacious florals on skirts, dresses, pants, tops, shoes and other accessories. “If you want to try mixing florals with another print, I love the look of floral and stripes,” says Hagee.
Pastel Colors
This year will bring colors that brighten and lift moods, which include the surgence of pastels. “If you are someone who wears a lot of neutrals, try using the neutral as your base and then add in a pastel for a pop of color. You can even start small with an accessory,” suggests Hagee.
Comfortable Khakis:
It’s understandable if the word “khakis” conjures up a dated look tied to uninspiring fits. But khakis are making a casual comeback in the form of relaxed, slouchy fits, and a variety of colors like olive.
The Puff Sleeve:
Last year’s puff sleeves are expanding from not only blouses and dresses but also into casual tops and jackets. The puff in the sleeve itself has moved from the shoulder to other areas on the sleeve, providing fluid movements that flatter all body types.
