Sydney Newland and Brittany McDermott took time to evaluate where they were in life and where they wanted to be during the pandemic. As photographers on the side, they had worked together before, and thought there was no better time than to launch their own business.
Today they are the owners of Cinnamon + Birch, a full-service photograph studio, based out of Germantown.
“Brittany and I had collaborated over the years doing each other’s photos and pulling inspiration from each other for other sessions,” explains Newland. “In January 2021, we pulled the plug and started Cinnamon + Birch, a play on Sydney and Brittany.”
Cinnamon + Birch can cater to any photo session request, although Newland says they specialize in wedding photography, boudoir, maternity and infant lifestyle sessions, business and product sessions, and senior sessions. She adds that they also appreciate strange and unusual requests as well.
When you do a session with Cinnamon + Birch, you’ll find that they want to capture images that show the real “you.”
“Posing is great but it isn’t genuine,” says Newland.
Plus, they offer next day turnaround on most sessions.
