The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Sanders: Wick Therapy Candle was inspired by wanting to feel good and create a safe place for me to relax and unwind. I used to work in a very challenging environment and started researching ways to curb my anxiety and uplift my spirit. I came across various content that spoke to the use of scent. I am truly a lover and hoarder of candles (this is where it gets good!). I began working on scent combinations and really created scents around energy. Our candles embody the feelings and emotions that we are people sometimes experience: the relaxation of floral notes, the happiness of citrus, the focus of mint, or even warmth of vanilla – for a glimpse into our candle collection.
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind the business?
Sanders: It’s me, Jhazlyn sanders. I started my entrepreneurial journey one candle at a time. I am often shy and introverted, which makes me place a lot of importance on feng shui, making sure my favorite places have a specific kind of energy. I found that candles are one of the best ways to achieve this for me. My background is mainly around roles in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, where I occupied positions that analyze data to understand shopping behaviors. With my past experience and genuine love of candles I am able to fuel my passion while walking in my purpose.
The Chic Guide: What types of products to you create at Wick Therapy Candle?
Sanders: We offer traditional soy candles, wax melts, room sprays, and diffuser oils. Both our brick-and-mortar space and online platform allow you to make your own candle scents. In-person you make the candle and we work for you. Online you choose your scents and we create it and ship it to you!
The Chic Guide: What makes Wick Therapy Candle unique?
Sanders: Wick Therapy Candle is hand-poured in Ohio, our scent candles undergo a series of testing cycles to achieve the perfect aroma and scent throw. We hand-pour them with love and the best energy goes into each and every candle.
The Chic Guide: Where are you located?
Sanders: We currently have 2 locations and both offer candle-making. You can find us at The Greene Shopping Center at 55 Chestnut Street in Beavercreek. That location offers a party room. Our other location is at 2nd Street Market at 600 E. Second Street in Dayton. I also participation various vending events in the area.
The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Sanders: We will be hosting a mixer at our Greene location on September 30! There will be free candle making, goodies, and sweets! We will also celebrate our 2 Year Anniversary on November 23 with weekend-long events November 26-28.
