The Chic Guide: What is Totally Lit Events?
Alisander Schmid & Krishna Nelson, Co-Founders of Totally Lit Events: Totally Lit Events is a family of like-minded college students who came up with a unique way to bring the light to our city. We are Cincinnati born and bred; the producers of our very own, hand crafted to perfection, marquee letters and numbers!
The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Schmid & Nelson: The idea that started it all came as Krishna’s balloon business, USA Balloonatics, grew. He observed the increasing use of marquee letters at various events across the country, but the set ups in Cincinnati were lacking something. Naturally, being the fun loving and enterprising person that he is, Krishna consulted with me (Alisander), aware of my carpentry skills, and we gave the marquee building a try. We soon found that we make some great marquee letters and decided to take the leap! We have been having a great time meeting people and getting to share some of the tender moments of peoples lives. Taking part in the marriage proposals and anniversaries continues to inspire us and will always be the best part of this job. through Totally Lit events and USA Balloonatics those connections are made possible. Our businesses have been growing steadily since the beginning and we couldn’t be more excited to continue.
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind it?
Schmid & Nelson: For a while now Krishna and I (Alisander) have handled the front and back end work for our businesses but we have recruited some killer new additions to the Totally Lit Events and USA Balloonatics teams. Emma Reed, a sharp, multifaceted undergrad student has just been installed as our head of marketing as well as some more great students whose work you’ll be able to see on our social media soon.

Schmid & Nelson: Totally Lit Events offers handcrafted, light-up marquee letters and numbers to rent for ANY event, wedding, or special occasion you can dream up. We are so excited to hear your ideas! Our current product selections include both four foot and two foot letters and numbers with the option to customize the color of the light bulbs. With the two different sizes and the complete alphabet and number set, the possibilities are endless!

Schmid & Nelson: Krishna and I (Alisander) grew up in Cincinnati and went to Walnut Hills High School. We have a deep connection to this city and its people. As the builder of the marquees, I strive to put love and effort into each one. I work hard for my customers to help bring to life their beautiful ideas and make their events extra special.
