Chic Spotlight: Salon Noir Mobile

A salon owner restored a Safari Airstream to launch a mobile salon.

The Chic Guide: What is Salon Noir Mobile?
Amber Bromer, Owner of Salon Noir Mobile: Salon Noir Mobile is a Safari Airsteam that we have renovated into a salon. Giving us an exciting and new way to do the services we have always loved doing! It is a branch off of our two brick and mortar locations in Centerville and Lebanon.

The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Bromer: We started getting the wheels rolling on the hAirstream project back in 2019 just before opening the second location in Lebanon.  We ran into a lot of obstacles along the way, but I have always enjoyed the challenge of turning the obstacles into opportunities.

I had seen similar mobile salon setups out west and thought we could use something like that here. And boy oh boy! It has really helped us serve our new and long time clients.

The Chic Guide: Who’s behind it?
Bromer: My name is Amber Bromer and I started the first Salon Noir location back in 2010. Our second location and the mobile both launched in 2020.

The Chic Guide: What salon services do you offer?
Bromer: We do styles, cuts, color, mini spa facials, makeup, feather extensions, keratin and conditioning treatments. We have a huge demand for weddings but also wanted to offer things like beauty days for a work outing or staff appreciation Day, Block Parties or Neighborhood Days, Girls Nights Out, or any sort of party, really. We also love doing on-location photo shoots, or makeup and hair for music videos, concerts, independent films… stuff like that!

The Chic Guide: What makes Salon Noir Mobile unique?
Bromer: I always try to think outside the box and involve the community in some way. This has been especially important with all the Covid stuff going on. Our small businesses and community need TLC and support more than ever. The idea of mobile businesses isn’t new, but it seems it has skyrocketed in the last few years, even more so after the shut downs. We’ve seen so many awesome businesses popping up.

The Chic Guide: How far do you travel to provide services?
Bromer: We offer a complimentary 30-mile travel radius. Our regular spots that we travel to are the Greater Dayton area, Cincinnati and Columbus, but we will travel further for an additional fee.

The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Bromer: We are pretty much booked until the end of the season with weddings, photo shoots, a charity cut-a-thon, and festivals; Beavercreek’s Popcorn Festival, Germantown’s Pretzel Festival, and Vintage Market Days in Xenia.  Our Mobile season is March through the end of October.

We have managed to make some time to squeeze in a very special giveaway in the next few weeks! I’ve teamed up with a couple other women-owned local businesses to give away something very special! Watch our Instagram for details!

The Chic Guide: Where can readers go to learn more and follow along?
Bromer: You can check out our website for all things Salon Noir at www.salonnoirohio. You can also follow Salon Noir Mobile on Facebook and Instagram, Salon Noir Centerville on Facebook and Instagram, and Salon Noir Lebanon on Facebook and Instagram.
