The Chic Guide: What is Raw Earth & Co?
Alexandria Scanlon, Founder of Raw Earth & Co: Raw Earth & Co is a non-toxin, high-quality candle brand.

The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Scanlon: The inspiration behind the brand is my daughter. After I had my daughter I really was trying to live a healthy life. I continued to buy tons of candles not knowing the dangers of paraffin wax and fragrance that is loaded with toxins. I literally started researching candles and was shocked that paraffin was was made from gasoline and is linked to lung cancer and lung problems. And I was just burning this willingly around my newborn. So I went to the store and spent lots of money on toxin-free soy candles for them to not even smell good or have any scent. So I vowed I was going to make high-quality soy candles that actually have a great, hot throw.

The Chic Guide: Who’s behind it?
Scanlon: I run Raw Earth & Co but my husband has been an amazing help and support with my entire business. He comes to all my shows and helps me set up and is always there to support me.

The Chic Guide: What products do you offer?
Scanlon: I offer soy candles, and soy wax melts. I make organic body butter bars and home decor on occasion because I love to craft, and I love to share my crafts with people. I also make t-shirts because I love to just constantly make stuff.

The Chic Guide: What makes Raw Earth and Co unique?
Scanlon: Raw Earth & Co is unique because it’s hard to find a clean brand that actually produces a good strong candle. I spent so much money on candles that were soy and low toxins for them to not even smell good. I was disappointed. Truly my candles have an amazing hot throw, I have done so much trial and error that I have finally  mastered the art of being a candler.

The Chic Guide: Do you have a storefront or participate in pop-ups and markets around Dayton?
Scanlon: I do local shows a lot! I will be at the Beavercreek Popcorn Festival coming up soon, which will be a huge show. And I currently am not in any stores, hopefully soon!

The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Scanlon: I am working on my fall line right now, then winter. I try to switch up my candles based on the season!

The Chic Guide: Where can readers go to learn more and follow along?
Scanlon: I have an Etsy shop and I’m on Instagram and Facebook.
