Jonathan Purcey, Co-Owner and General Manager of Pettibone Coffee: Pettibone Coffee is an innovative and open concept roastery and café in with a focus on high quality specialty coffee. All of our coffee is roasted and brewed in our facility. Alongside coffee and tea we also serve baked goods and a light breakfast and lunch all made in house.
The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind the business?
Purcey: Pettibone Coffee was born out of a deep passion for coffee and all of its processes. We wanted to create a space where coffee, and all of the details that go into making it are the star of the show. We also care deeply for providing a large space where the community can always find a seat to work, spend time with friends and family, or spend time working on their creative passions.
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind Pettibone Coffee?
Purcey: We are a mother-and-son duo! Myself and my mother, Marci, are behind the business.
The Chic Guide: What’s on the menu at Pettibone Coffee?
Purcey: We offer a great selection of pour over coffees, exceptionally crafted espresso drinks, baked goods, and a light breakfast and lunch. Everything from our baked goods to our syrups for our espresso drinks are made in-house with outstanding ingredients.
The Chic Guide: What makes Pettibone Coffee unique?
Purcey: Here at Pettibone, passion is something we speak of often. It is our firm belief that passion for something will naturally bring forth quality. Everyone on our team is passionate about what they do and are always looking for ways to improve their craft. From our perfectly balanced drinks, to our sandwiches made with fresh ingredients we are always looking for ways to improve our product. This is something our customers can feel from the moment they walk in the door. Our atmosphere is also quite different from other coffee shops. Our dining room layout, with its large tables and bars encourage personal interaction and community.
The Chic Guide: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Purcey: We have recently acquired a building right next to our cafe where we will be moving our roastery and bakery to be able to expand operations. Currently our roastery is in our cafe and our customers love watching the coffee roasting process. We plan to offer a sitting room in the new roastery where customers will still be able to see the entire coffee roasting process. We have also been keeping our eyes open for other expansion opportunities.
