April Delestienne, Owner of Freedom Bakery: Freedom Bakery is a home bakery specializing in delicious baked goods that are free from gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, and soy.
The Chic Guide: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Delestienne: My son Lenny is the inspiration behind Freedom Bakery. Lenny has multiple food allergies and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE). The EOE requires specific dietary restrictions and I didn’t want to have to tell my son “no” to so many foods that weren’t safe for him. Finding baked goods that are gluten, dairy, egg, nut, and soy free isn’t an easy task, and we were tired of eating treats that tasted like chalk or crumbled in your hands. I decided to take matters into my own hands (with help from my amazing mom) and create safe, and tasty, treats for him to eat. This is how Freedom Bakery was created. We wanted to share this freedom with anyone who has specific dietary needs, whatever their reasons may be! Now Lenny can have the same treats as his brothers and cousins and no one can even tell that these are allergy friendly!
The Chic Guide: Who’s behind it?
Delestienne: The bakers behind Freedom Bakery are myself and my mom. My mom chooses to remain more behind the scenes, but she is an immeasurable asset to Freedom Bakery (and an amazing grandmother to Lenny and our 2 other boys)!

Delestienne: On the menu you can find everything from cookies to cupcakes, muffins and Lenny’s favorite, donuts!
The Chic Guide: What makes Freedom Bakery unique?
Delestienne: What makes us unique is baking to suit those with food allergies and specific dietary needs. Everything we make is free from gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts and soy. Our kitchen is a dedicated gluten free kitchen in addition to being free from dairy, eggs, nuts and soy.

Delestienne: We bake out of our home located in West Chester.

Delestienne: We are always working on new menu items to share! If customers ever have any fun ideas, we are always willing to try making something new!
