When Katie Sharp started her own business in 2017, she sold vintage, one-of-a-kind Japanese silk kimonos under the name Wabi Sabi Threads. However, when her son was born with complex medical needs, she needed to become his primary caregiver and took a step back from running the business. Then, during the holiday season, she decided to revamp things and relaunch under the name Brass Bee Vintage Goods.
“Brass Bee Vintage Goods is a vintage home decor and vintage kimono brand that aims to inspire others to go after their goals while giving back to the community through donating a portion of all sales to a new charity every quarter,” she explains.
Now she sells one-of-a-kind vintage home decor treasures in addition to vintage kimonos, all while getting to share her obsession with brass with the world around her. When you shop Brass Bee Vintage Goods, you’ll find a collection of vintage home decor including mid-century modern pieces, brass, wicker, and more along with authentic vintage silk Japanese kimonos.
Sharp hopes to make an impact through her business with sustainable and ethically produced items. “Brass Bee currently carries all vintage items, meaning it’s the best type of sustainability when no new manufacturing or polluting of the environment is happening,” she says.
Currently, you can shop Brass Bee Vintage Goods on the main floor at Riverside Centre Antique Mall in Cincinnati. Sharp says that she’s expanding her reach and giving the community the opportunity to shop her vintage collections at a new storefront, theWyoming General Store, which opens in April. “We plan to add more furniture in both of our physical locations throughout the summer and early fall,” she adds.
“We are always looking for vintage items to buy, so if you or anyone you know has brass, wicker, or mid-century modern furniture to sell, please email us to see if we are able to purchase anything at this time,” she adds.
