Bloom Fragrance Company

Based in the heart of Norwood, this local couple is sharing their soy wax products with the community.

Lacey and Mike Menke (and their cat Kiwi) have a big love for candles. The couple, who just married last June, also had a bunch of old vessels laying around and they wanted to repurpose them. In an effort to combine their love for candles with their passion for repurposing, Lacey began researching candle making.

She says it was the science behind candle making that drew her in. “I loved the science behind finding the perfect wax, wick, and vessel combination, and testing all of those variable made my heart happy,” she says.

With a newfound love for candle making, the Menkes decided to share their labor of love with the community and launched Bloom Fragrance Company. Specializing in soy wax products, Bloom Fragrance Company offers two sizes of candles, 12oz and 5 oz, wax melts, and room sprays. “In terms of scents, we have our Signature Collection, which features classic fragrances available all year round,” says Menke. “We also release four limited edition seasonal scents every quarters.”

Menke says that she enjoys creating custom scents for local businesses as well. She says they offer private label options as well as the customization of any of Bloom Fragrance Company’s products.

When asked what makes Bloom Fragrance Company unique, Menke says that it’s their passion for educating people on what a good candle should be. “We use 100 percent soy and soy-based additive wax because we love the way it burns,” she explains. “Soy wax is a vegetable derived from soybeans that burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax. You’ll be able to get anywhere from 30-40 hours of burn time with our 12-ounce candles, if burned properly, with less soot than your average candle. We hand select all of our scents, hand pour all of our products, and really take pride in what we do.”

Menke says she’s always looking at expanding the brand with new ideas and products. “Right now, we’re testing our fall collection, which will include scents of coffee, pumpkin, blueberry, and apple cider,” she says. “We also hope to expand into wooden wicks and roller ball perfumes next year.”

Bloom Fragrance Company currently operates out of the Menke home, however, you can find their products and shop in-person throughout the city include WestSide Market.
