Born and raised in Cincinnati, Kayla Hansmann built her own nutritional empire, while staying rooted to service to her community by way of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Her empire, also known as Cincy Fit Foodie, promotes general wellness tips as well as wholesome recipes that seamlessly fit into busy lifestyles.
“I love creating delicious dishes that highlight unique combinations and symbiotically nutritious ingredients – empowering people to do the same is an added benefit,” says Hansmann.
On top of a strong connection with food, Hansmann also likes to express herself by way of fitness. As an instructor of cycle, barre, and cardio/strength training, Hansmann has developed a keen eye for group fitness programming over the years.
“Nutritional and social wellness haven’t always necessarily been areas that I’ve felt the most confident or strong-suited in,” she admits, “but my undergraduate and post-graduate studies have fostered that almost decade-long expertise.”
With her education in dietetics and experience in the exercise industry, Hansmann is also an instructor at the University of Cincinnati, providing education for the College of Health Promotion and Education. But she doesn’t view her service to the fitness and nutrition industries as work.
Hansmann says, “fitness and nutrition is not only a part of my career, but it’s how I actively spend my spare time and enjoy spending time with close friends and family.”
And beyond the kitchen, gym or classroom, Kayla is actually most proud of her work within the community of Cincinnati. Kayla has written and spoken on various nutrition topics for her personal blog Cincy Fit Foodie, Quidwell, Cincy Lifestyle, ‘You Can Pound This’, Local Channel 12, and of course, WISe Wellness Guild.
“The connections that I’ve fostered, and helped create, have been some of the most meaningful moments for me,” Hansmann said. “When I’m able to further help, guide, or even inspire, someone in a sometimes vulnerable area such as their health or nutrition, I feel even more humbled to be granted the opportunity to do so.”
Like every human though, Hansmann admits she hasn’t mastered all areas of wellness and is currently working on the facets of financial and emotional wellness, territories she’s identified as areas of growth.
“Where we learn, we grow,” Hansmann says.
