A Leadership Style with Julie Holt: Part 2

In Part 1 of her story Julie Holt discussed her love of leading through nursing and how she enjoys being physically active, especially walking and spending time in nature.

When asked about the pillar of wellness she excels in the most, she didn’t hesitate in sharing her thoughts.

“I excel in social wellness. I am blessed with an amazing family, full of support and love” said Holt.

“In addition, I am grateful for a large group of friends and colleagues who I can call ‘friend’. I am especially grateful for a few people who I can call my best friends, those who have been with for decades, and who are there for me, no matter what!”

Julie confessed to being an introvert, sharing that she prefers spending time with others one-on-one, forging meaningful connections.  “My relationships have gotten me through some very difficult times and I would not be where I am today, if it wasn’t for my social support.”

Julie shared that, like so many high-achieving women, nutritional wellness is her greatest area of opportunity in wellness. “As a nurse, I know what I should and shouldn’t eat, but still I struggle” Julie confessed.

Her biggest downfall? Sugar.

“I am a stress eater AND I love sugar. I have to track my intake and my nutritional macros everyday – because if I don’t it is easy for me to spiral out of control.”  By carrying snacks in her bag with her like Crunchmaster Crackers Julie is able to curb sugar cravings by feeling nourished with gluten-free goodness.

“I also LOVE to dine out – so the struggle is real” shared Holt. “All that being said, I don’t believe in extreme dieting, etc. I try to be kind to myself, which means I need to nourish myself.”

A strength in social wellness and a love for dining in restaurants oftentimes goes hand in hand with a struggle in nutritional wellness.  Apps like MyFitnessPal are great for paying closer attention to intake and making healthier choices on the go.
