I first met Erin Arlinghaus when we worked together at a local health system. Finding someone who lived with a sense of purpose wasn’t rare, however, finding someone committed to doing the work to see it through- now that was a different story. By using data, actively listening and demonstrating servant leadership Erin was transforming the way employees engaged with the organization, mitigating retention risk and burnout. When I met Erin, I knew I had found my “people.”

Looking forward to today, Erin is currently a Policy Manager at The Kroger Co, transforming the way her company invests in their people and how those people connect and support each other.  Recently featured on “A Leadership Style” panel discussion powered by Crunchmaster, “I would love to share my journey around mental health with other friends, colleagues and family to help break the stigma” said Arlinghaus. “I find such a sense of purpose in helping others.”

The discussion around mental health has never been more important. Erin shared that she, like so many others, is actively managing her mental and emotional wellness. “Approximately four years ago, I had my first panic attack. Of course, I was so out of tune with my emotional wellness that I didn’t realize these were part of a future anxiety diagnosis. I remember talking with my physician about the importance of self care. I left that day empowered with a plan. I started therapy, began daily journaling, practiced yoga and mediated daily. I find joy in sharing my story to help support others. I can proudly say 4 years later that each of these plays an integral part in my life, supporting my mental/emotional wellness.”

This doesn’t go without its challenges. Erin shared, “physical wellness is something that I strive to do better.” By owning her opportunities, Erin can build a path forward to better invest in herself.

“For me, wellness is a lifestyle. I have made a commitment to myself, and my family, to care for me! I speak openly with my husband and kids about what I need to help me find peace. Embracing open communication has allowed our relationships to blossom!”
