Meet 27-year-old Kait Lott of Kait’s Kravings – a colorful, lively and creative food blog based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Lott attended college in Florida, beat cancer at 20, and is now working her way through Cincinnati’s food scene and re-exploring the great Midwest. She started Kait’s Kravings in 2019 and has since grown to almost 5,000 followers. Her content focuses on tasty delectables, but her “kravings” fall elsewhere too, like fashion, lifestyle, and faith to be exact.
There is an understandable (and good) reason why Lott has such a strong devotion to food. “For many of us, food is one of the main reasons we convene,” she says. “It simply brings us together. Whether it is for religious gatherings, family celebrations, a friend’s birthday, cultural experiences or just to spend more intentional time together, food often provides a space for us to enjoy one another. I love that food does that.”
Lott is also a full-time career access advisor at the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, helping students in the 7th to 12th grades aspire to, prepare for, enroll in, and find resources to pay for post-secondary education. Based on specific school assignments, this is accomplished through individual student meetings, classroom workshops, group sessions, presentations, and parent meetings.
It’s clear with Lott that her life is full – of food, of friends, of faith, of dreams. To keep herself on track and to maintain her wellness, she says balance is key.
“Balance in daily life and schedules, eating and spirituality,” she says. “I integrate wellness into my life by taking time to prioritize, say ‘no’ and give time to my craft. I honestly feel so much more fulfilled when I am following my wellness routine, not only is my quality of work better but I am truly at peace.”
She blocks time in her schedule just for her, because she ultimately knows this time will allow her to recharge and reset. The regime has worked out for her of late, and can be attributed to her continued success with Kait’s Kravings.
“I think looking back on it, I am most proud that I stepped out and started Kait’s Kravings and actually remained consistent with it for over two years,” she says. “I am passionate about how it has changed my life and how it has made me fall more in love with Cincinnati.”
