In part 1 of Jordan’s story we learned that in order to persevere through challenges as a business owner, Hamons must calm her mind before bed through reading a book and writing. We’re grateful for Jordan’s resilience because the culinary events at Tablespoon Cooking Co. are some of the best experiences in the city.
How does Jordan maintain resilience? “I’ve pretty consistently seen a therapist since I was in college” said Hamons. “It has become a key part of my wellness and helps me stay in a positive place mentally.”
Mental health has become an increasingly important area of focus with 1 in 4 Americans suffering with a mental illness. ”I love working with my therapist as a part of my general wellness maintenance. She helps me navigate my personal life, professional life, and relationships with friends and family. My current therapist is excellent and I’m so thrilled to have her as a resource.”
As for Jordan’s wellness opportunity areas? “Nutrition and exercise are the most difficult for me. I’m around food all day and I cook for a living.”
Jordan is an incredibly hard worker, and like so many of us, working a full day doesn’t always lend itself to the best food choices. “If I’ve worked a 12 hour day, I usually don’t want to cook anything else and sometimes just go for what’s quick and easy.
Jordan also spoke about her struggle with exercise. “I don’t naturally enjoy working out so it can be hard for me to commit to work outs and stick with them.” The great news is that she’s got her community at Trilogy Fitness to support her when she’s ready to get after it!
